WHITEWALL WINS FIRST GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2024 FOR THE DESIGN EDITION BY STUDIO BESAU-MARGUERRE
WhiteWall has won the coveted German Design Award 2024 in the “Excellent Product Design” category for the first time, thanks to its impressive design and constant innovation. This prize, awarded by the Design Council, is an important recognition of the commitment and quality of WhiteWall’s design.
The German Design Award is one of the world’s most renowned design competitions, recognising products and projects that are pioneers in the design landscape. The WINNER award for the WhiteWall Design Edition by Studio Besau-Marguerre recognises WhiteWall’s ongoing efforts to combine innovation and design quality at the highest level. WhiteWall impressed the high-level jury with its creative vision, design concept, functionality and aesthetics.
THE DESIGN EDITION BY STUDIO BESAU-MARGUERRE
The frames in the WhiteWall Design Edition are available in green, yellow and purple. Each frame is composed of four different shades within this unique chromatic universe. The result is a strong dynamic between the frame and the image. The viewer’s gaze is captivated and the frame begins to “live”. The frames remain neutral because all the colours come from a single colour palette. The refreshing colours of the design frames offer the opportunity to personalise the home even more – with gallery-quality portraits, for example.
“The German Design Award is yet another accolade for WhiteWall. It’s the first time we’ve received an award outside the field of photography. We’re particularly pleased about it, and it reinforces our idea of working with designers. The collaboration with the Besau-Marguerre studio has been very special for us right from the start, and the fact that it has now been honoured with the German Design Award confirms this even more,” says WhiteWall managing director Thomas Alscheid.
“WhiteWall and I are delighted to have won the award for our Colour Edition. As trivial as it may seem at first glance to colour a frame, thinking about the theme of the frame in interaction with the artwork that sits within it has been just as exciting for us. It’s fascinating to see the influence that a frame can have on photography, and it’s precisely because it’s a product that often only has a discreet existence that we’re all the happier to receive such a distinction with this project,” Eva Marguerre is delighted to say of the prize.
The Design Council justifies its choice as follows: “The edition of the photo frame designed for WhiteWall by Hamburg-based Studio Besau-Marguerre has a particular aesthetic effect thanks to four different colour bands from the same colour family (yellow, violet, green), which engage in an exciting dialogue with the corresponding motif.”
