SWAROVSKI ADDS SPARKLE TO THE 2016 VICTORIA’S SECRET SHOW IN PARIS
Swarovski, the world leader in cut crystal and fashion jewelry, is delighted to announce the fourteenth year of its partnership with the celebrated Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
This year the show was held for the first time in Paris at the Grand Palais on November 30, 2016. It will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network at 10pm EST on December 5, and seen by more than 190 countries.
For well over a century, Swarovski has been inspiring creative talents from fashion, jewelry, accessories, interior design and lighting with brilliant crystal innovations. Renowned for pushing the boundaries of artistry while bringing the glamour of crystal to designers and consumers alike, since 2002, Swarovski has been exclusively embellishing outfits and accessories with crystals for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows. 51 of the world’s most dazzling models—including those chosen to be Victoria’s Secret Angels— blazed down the runway in 82 looks, bringing yet more dazzle to the world’s most romantic city. In total, over 2 million Swarovski crystals were used in the show.
“The partnership between Victoria’s Secret and Swarovski has been going on for fourteen years, and counting. I cannot imagine doing a show without them, because it just adds this extra layer of entertainment,” said Victoria’s Secret EVP of Public Relations, Monica Mitro.
Swarovski’s 2016 Look
This year, Swarovski brought a special sparkle to the Bright Night Angel section of the show with a bespoke Swarovski look. Designed by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show team, the outfit was made using over 450,000 crystal baguettes, beads, chatons, fancy stones, Flat Backs, pendants and sew-ons. In keeping with the Bright Night Angel theme, high-shine radiance is achieved through the use of the Crystal Comet Argent Light effect and its reflective mirror finish. Another dramatic design feature is a sweeping crystal fringe. Composed of 3,000 shimmering crystal strands that take an average of twelve minutes each to thread, catching and reflecting the light, each finished sleeve weighs around 8–10 pounds.
Accessories included boots designed by the master of the high-glam vertiginous heel, Brian Atwood, with additional crystallized embellishment and fringe detailing by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show team, and contributed a further 1,630 crystals to the overall ensemble. Danish-born Josephine Skriver modeled the 2016 Swarovski look. Having walked for Victoria’s Secret since 2013, she was made an official Victoria’s Secret Angel in February 2016.

A range of themes featuring runway looks embellished with thousands of Swarovski crystals appear throughout the show, including The Road Ahead, Mountain Romance, PINK Nation, Dark Angel, Secret Angel, and Bright Night Angel. Additionally, one of this year’s performers, Lady Gaga wore a Gladys Tamez Millinery bespoke hat adorned with Swarovski crystals.
Swarovski Executive Board Member Markus Langes-Swarovski commented: “After fourteen years of creative partnership with Victoria’s Secret, we’re delighted to be part of the show, aptly staged in the City of Light. With our long history of crystal creativity, craftsmanship and innovation, we welcome the opportunity to bring yet more glamour and luminosity to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”
