Secret Place to be – La Co(o)rniche
If you want to experience something unique and breathtaking, you should visit this place…
During our roadtrip we stopped in Arcachon, South-West of France. The road took us along beautiful landscapes, savage and pure… We went up and down the hills before we finally arrived in Pyla, where we had lunch at La Co(o)rniche, an extraordinary, mythical place.
Figurehead of the Pilat-Plage area, look-out post of the Bassin d’Arcachon and leaning against the highest dune in Europe, suspended between the sea and the sky, implanted between the sand and the pine forest. A 1930s hunting lodge in the heart of a protected natural site where the aristocracy and the upper classes, attracted by the quality of the air, the magic of the site and the trend for bathing in the sea, decided to have a house built by Louis Gaume; a neo-Basque house sheltering under the pine trees.
«The most impressive place, the most beautiful, the most poetic, the most surreal, the strongest forces of nature; it is one of the most beautiful places in the world ». Philippe Starck sums up in several words the breathtaking scene that can be admired from the site of La Co(o)rniche.
In an overwhelming surrounding of Pilat’s Dunes this ocean front restaurant has everything: location, design, great food and service.
Philippe Stark created an amazing ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating plus hotel rooms.
Everything is created to please your senses.
We started with some fabulous & fresh oysters and tuna tartare, which was extremely tasty as well.
As main courses we both took fish – couldn’t have been any better!
The dessert was gone in a second…
We had a wonderful time at La Co(o)rniche and we highly recommend this place. It’s not the cheapest after all, but worth it a thousand times.
