Paris Fashion Week Discovery: IRIS CANTABRI
A PARISIAN MAISON WITH GREAT IMPORTANCE GIVEN TO FRENCH CRAFTMANSHIP
A sour energy seizes the Maison Iris Cantabri!
For this Summer 2016 collection, Guillaume Michel dares to associate green with pink and enlighten trimmings.
While the volumes are frozen by some “ice blue prints”, houndstooth becomes transparent, double knit mesh sporty and the crepe becomes more flowing.
The Maison Iris Cantabri has been founded in 2012 by Guillaume Michel. Before deciding to create his own brand, Guillaume Michel joined the Ecole de la Chambre Syndical de la Couture Parisienne to acquire the basics of his craft. After different professional experiences in fashion houses such as Emmanuel Ungaro and Alexis Mabille, Guillaume Michel developped in 2012 a « work in progress collection » around trimmings & plants in collaboration with Walter Steiger and Patrick Blanc. After that he decided to launch his own brand : Iris Cantabri, whose name is derived from his grandfather’s boat and his native region, Cantabria.
In 2013 the team worked on the development of a manufacturers and craftmen network.
Early 2014, Iris Cantabri joined the showroom of the Fédération Française de la Couture: “Designers Apartment”. The brand also created a partnership with the perfumer Téo Cabanel for his last campaign, while setting up the mix & match concept.
The Maison Iris Cantabri defines itself through a structured flow of clothing that relies on exceptional French expertise and craftsmanship, such as trimmings. Carrying on the French know-how is very important to Guillaume Michel and this is the reason why each creation uses ancestral know-how and technics.
The choice of high quality and pioneer fabrics as well as the work on cuts and volumes, which is entirely made internally in our Parisian workshop, are also key to the brand.
A NEW APPROACH TO COUTURE, A NEW CONCEPT
The Maison offers the clients a new concept, that allows them to create a customizable and evolving wardrobe: To suit their desires, moods or budgets and thanks to a zip, the client will be able to invent and help evolve our creations by associating the different pieces proposed individually.
The Iris Cantabri woman is feminine, charismatic, independent and is looking for a wearable Couture to express her personality and her feminity.
