The Maison de luxe celebrates the 100th anniversary of an icon of writing culture – with a collection that recalls the origins of the masterpiece (Meisterstück) and honours its lasting influence.

Montblanc opened a spectacular new chapter in the history of writing culture with the introduction of the writing instrument in 1924. As the work of true masters of craftsmanship, the all-black fountain pen was christened the Meisterstück. After a century of unbroken popularity, the Meisterstück has matured into a consummate icon of writing culture. To celebrate this special anniversary, Montblanc has returned to its roots and created the Meisterstück The Origin collection: a collection that looks at the characteristics of design over the years and brings original designs from the extensive Montblanc archive to life for the first time.

“Even at the height of the digital age, the Meisterstück remains a symbol of culture, creativity and connection, and a symbol of the power of writing by hand. With this unique collection, we would like to invite all lovers of the written word and Montblanc’s writing culture to join us on a journey and discover the unmistakable characteristics of the popular Meisterstück with new eyes,” explains Alessandra Elia, Montblanc Director of Writing Culture.
