“Calder Unfolding”
Paris – Matignon
13 October – 12 November 2022
Almine Rech, in collaboration with the Calder Estate, is pleased to present a solo exhibition of works by Alexander Calder, to be held in Paris from 13 October to 12 November 2022 in the gallery space located at 18 Avenue Matignon.
Alexander Calder (b. 1898 in Lawnton, Pennsylvania, d. 1976 in New York), whose illustrious career spanned nearly a century, remains the most influential sculptor of our time. He remains best known for inventing the famous mobiles, whose suspended elements float and balance in shifting harmony. Calder continued to pursue his research through two-dimensional works, including paintings, tapestries, and lithographs. In addition to the mobile Untitled, 1963, the exhibition at Almine Rech will also present jewellery made by the artist as well as several works on paper.
