Nestling in the heart of beautiful undulating countryside, just a stone’s throw from the blue waves, and just 20 minutes from the historic town of Ciutadella, Son Vell stands as a symbol of Menorcan beauty and elegance. The large 18th-century house sits peacefully alongside traditional farm buildings dotted around the estate.
Vestige’s very first hotel in the Balearic Islands is a lovingly restored eighteenth-century manor house nestling in the heart of Menorca’s rolling countryside, twenty minutes from the historic town of Ciutadella and just ten minutes’ walk from the glittering coastline and its secret coves.
The elegant main building and its rustic farmhouses, in which all the original features – wood, lime, clay and sandstone – have been carefully preserved, house the thirty-three rooms and suites spread across the 180-hectare estate.
The quiet interiors, with their terracotta floor tiles, exposed beams and natural textiles, are both historically accurate and resolutely contemporary: a harmonious blend of antique and contemporary furniture – designed by Vestige and produced locally.
Son Vell has thirty-three rooms and suites, all delicately decorated to reflect the manor’s soothing elegance. The main house has six bedrooms, including two suites with terraces, a double suite and a large suite with a hammam-style bath.
Each room and suite is unique and spacious, opening onto a large private terrace or luxurious garden.
The hotel also offers access to a wide range of activities, both on and off the premises, all designed to give guests a better understanding of Menorca’s culture, traditions and customs: 4×4 excursions, open-air cinema, cookery classes, yoga and pilates courses, bike rides, sunset picnics, stargazing, walks along the Cami de Cavalls, concerts, workshops with local craftsmen, boat trips, water sports, visits to archaeological sites, horse riding.
The pool and garden bars offer different areas to enjoy a light meal, while two restaurants offer seasonal cuisine using produce from the garden or local producers. While the Sa Clarisa restaurant is ideal for a leisurely lunch of reinterpreted Menorcan classics, the Vermell table welcomes you to enjoy under the stars the delicate dishes of a cuisine that celebrates island life.
