DIPTYQUE x LUCY SPARROW: THE ULTIMATE HOLIDAY 2024 COLLAB

HOLIDAY 2024
A festive universe by Diptyque and Lucy Sparrow

To celebrate this year’s Holiday collection, Diptyque takes you into the fairytale world of felt – created by our guest artist Lucy Sparrow.

Lucy Sparrow, known for her atypical combinations of art and craft and her poppy use of felt, has made this sensual and colorful material her primary means of expression. With a touch of eccentricity that characterizes each of her original works, she distorts reality and creates a magically cheerful universe.

To celebrate this year’s Holiday collection, Diptyque takes you into the fairytale world of felt – created by our guest artist Lucy Sparrow. The collaboration is inspired by the creative spirit of Diptyque’s founders and their love of playing with materials and artistic manipulation. In this spirit, winter motifs and symbols of the house are cheerfully reinterpreted in a pop and artisanal aesthetic.
From October to the end of December, Diptyque will be presenting the collection gradually and in an innovative way, including from October 24 with surprises for young and old in the new Diptyque maisons in Paris and London. The designer has become famous for her experimental and sophisticated installations, which contain thousands of replicas of everyday objects – all handmade from felt. This year’s guest of honor for the festive collection is Lucy Sparrow, an English artist who is hard to categorize. With her, Diptyque is writing a new chapter in the history of artistic collaboration.

Lucy Sparrow, known for her atypical combinations of art and craft and her poppy use of felt, has made this sensual and colorful material her main means of expression. With a touch of eccentricity that characterizes each of her original works, she distorts reality and creates an enchantingly cheerful universe. For Diptyque, Lucy Sparrow transforms the real into a magical and festive world by taking up typical winter motifs (Christmas tree, pine cone, gingerbread man, candy cane, star) and the symbols of the house (perfume bottle, historic candle, logo pouch and incense burner). The objects handcrafted by the artist serve as motifs for the creations in this year’s festive collection, which are distinguished by their purpose and nature – perfumes and room fragrances, decorative objects, small tokens of appreciation and unusual gifts. The collection builds delicious excitement by being unveiled in stages, on different dates from October to the end of the year. An orchestrated production that casts the festive season in a new light, heightens the anticipation and makes the preparations even more festive.

The innovative calendar in the form of a sewing box, which is based on the world of the artist Lucy Sparrow, conceals 25 wonderful surprises. Inside the many colorful drawers are three ingenious new products: the Sapin (fir) candle in 70 g format and the Étoile (star) and Friandise (sweet treat) candles in 35 g format. The range also includes perfumes, care and cleaning products (various eaux de parfum 10 ml, the odour-neutralizing room spray with basil in small format, the odour-neutralizing miniature candle with basil, decorative pendants and much more).
And as the sewing box compartments can be used in many different ways, they will continue to enchant your everyday life even after the holidays.

Lovers of pine scents will be delighted by the variety of limited edition creations this year, including a stick candle with the nuances of the iconic winter fragrance; an extra-large candle in a deep green enamel vessel, hand-sprinkled with real gold and specially made in the French manufactory Virebent; and a room spray that can be sprayed anywhere in the house. Other creations take the shape of the symbolic tree, such as the majestic Advent calendar candle weighing almost a kilogram and made from cast scented wax. In keeping with Scandinavian tradition, it is decorated with gold-colored numbers that herald the countdown to Christmas Day. The new lantern in the shape of a fir tree, which turns as if by magic thanks to the warmth of the flame of a candle in the classic format, and the carousel with its five star-spangled pendants are the finishing touches.

The fir tree also takes center stage in Diptyque’s decorative collection. Its iconic shape and characteristic color served as inspiration for numerous limited-edition creations. There are candle holders made of mouth-blown glass, candle holders made of festive gold-colored metallic leather and green felt from the wonderful world of Lucy Sparrow. The wax lantern, which is handmade in Portugal and reflects the company’s craftsmanship in working with this material, is characterized by a casing illustrated with green fir branches. A miniature fir tree made of gold-plated metal, formed by hand using the lost wax technique, adorns the lid made of black Bakelite as an elegant finish for classic candles. To complete the festive atmosphere, the Diptyque candles are enhanced with gold-colored accessories, such as the “Thousand Flames” light reflector with its brass mirror, which multiplies the glow to almost infinity, or the textured “”Constallation“” lantern in a limited edition. The cover for the wooden boxes made of shiny gold metal rounds off the selection of beautifully designed accessories in an exclusive way.

The motifs and figures designed by Lucy Sparrow for Diptyque (star, Christmas tree, gingerbread man…) can also be found in a selection of limited edition items to embellish the Christmas tree or the festive table. They adorn the porcelain lid designed for the classic candle, which harmonizes with the porcelain bonbonnière with red Bayadère stripes, as well as the felt boot, also designed by the artist. To complete the range, they are staged in a series of hand-blown glass Christmas baubles. In parallel, there are four three-dimensional felt artist’s editions available in 40 Diptyque boutiques around the world. Hand-stitched, embroidered and signed by the artist, these creations, each issued in an edition of 200, bring to life the great symbols of the season chosen by Lucy Sparrow for Diptyque: the Christmas tree, the star, the gingerbread man and the boot.
